Ascend NYC

The Ascend NYC collaborative strengthens Black- and Latinx- owned businesses to grow as vendors for anchor institutions and assists anchors in localizing their supply chains.

Ascend NYC grows high potential businesses through a holistic Money, Markets and Management (3-M) Model.

We know that only collaboration can solve the world’s most pressing issues.

Developed by the University of Washington Foster School of Business Consulting & Business Development Center and powered by JPMorgan Chase’s Small Business Forward Initiative, Ascend grows businesses owned by people of color and businesses in inner-city communities by building local networks in major metropolitan areas across the US.

BOC Network became the lead for Ascend NYC to accelerate the growth of Black- and Latinx-owned businesses in the Bronx through a 3-M model (Money, Markets and Management). Ascend NYC is a partnership effort between Business Outreach Center Network, Bronx Cooperative Development Initiative, BOC Capital Corp. CDFI, and Columbia University Facilities and Operations.

Partnering with Local Institutions

By engaging with Anchor partners as strategic supply chain partners, including universities, healthcare systems, government, and private sector institutions, Ascend is building a unique ecosystem with the power to unlock access to purchasing streams.

Ascend businesses benefit from a tailored approach to maximize the unique opportunities to accelerate business and job growth, improve Management skills, increase access to Money, and grow Market connections. Each year Bronx institutions collectively spend billions of dollars on goods and services. Ascend NYC brings these stakeholders together to close the opportunity gap and build a more inclusive local economy.
